Shaykh Nazim welcomed in Sri Lanka

May 17

After a brief visit to the island nation of Singapore (to be posted shortly), Mawlana Shaykh Nazim proceeded to Sri Lanka. Formerly known as Ceylon, Sri Lanka is most famous for its tea, and that Sayyidina Adam (as) is said to have set his first step in the worl here.

Despite the turmoil that is taking place in the nation (and Mawlana's midnight arrival!) the Sri Lankan government took the time to honor our shaykh with special arrangements for his arrival. The Minister of Labor and many other officials personally greeted Mawlana at the airport and met with him for a short time in the VIP lounge. Representatives of the local media were also in attendance.

Following a brief brunch with their Sri Lankan hosts, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, Shaykh Hisham, His Highness Raja Ashman and others of the delegation, met with the Minister of Defense, Power and Energy.

Naqshbandi followers from around the world have joined the Eastern World Tour at different times. For many, this is a unique opportunity to see their shaykh. This is, in fact, the longest tour Mawlana Shaykh Nazim has embarked upon.

To close the day, hundreds gathered at the home hosting the shuyukh to participate in `Isha prayers, dhikr Allah, and to sit in association with their master.
