President Bush announces prayer vigil for today
A national day of mourning declared

(Washington, DC 09/14/01)  Yesterday afternoon, President Bush announced that today, Friday, September 14, 2001, would be a national day of mourning, remembrance and prayer. The announcement was made subsequent to the Islamic Supreme Council of America’s call to join Congress in making Wednesday, September 12th a day of mourning for the victims of Tuesday’s grievous terrorist attack.

President Bush will host a service marking this day at the National Cathedral, in Washington, DC, at 12:00pm. ISCA Chairman Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani will represent the Council at this important event.

The Council calls on all its members, on all Muslims in this nation and throughout the world, to attend religious services at their local houses of worship and to remember the victims of this tragic crime in their prayers.

ISCA has many times warned the nation to guard against the possibility of such actions and reiterates its condemnation of all terrorism, whether ideological, geographical, cultural or religious. Please visit our Web site at for more information.
