ISCA Activities - 2002
12/12/2002 ISCA Joins President Bush at Conference on Faith-Based Initiatives Responding to special invitation from the White House, ISCA attended the White House Regional Conference on Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in Philadelphia, PA. During the conference, ISCA had an opportunity to speak with President George W. Bush, who thanked the Council for its participation in the event and for helping to show America that his faith-based initiative is designed to help people of all faiths. 11/19/2002 ISCA Chairman Joins Powell for State Department Iftar Dinner ISCA Chairman Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani was honored to join Secretary of State of Colin Powell for a traditional fast-breaking feast at the U.S. State Department. During the Ramadan celebration, Secretary Powell emphasized that Muslims are an important part of the fabric of American life and urged all Americans to reject religious bigotry.
11/8/2002 ISCA Attends White House Ramadan Iftar Dinner; Chairman Kabbani Meets with President Bush The Islamic Supreme Council of America (ISCA) was honored to join other Muslim leaders from around the world for a traditional fast-breaking feast, or iftar, at the White House. ISCA Chairman Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani was warmly received at the event by President George W. Bush, who told him and other invitees that America is not at war with Islam. 9/8/2002 ISCA Chairman Meets with President; Endorses Bush's Call for Three Days of Prayer The chairman of Islamic Supreme Council of America, Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, together with a handful of religious leaders, was honored to join President George W. Bush in an intimate ceremony at the White House Roosevelt Room. The president used the occasion to proclaim that Friday, September 6, through Sunday, September 8, 2002, would be observed for the first time as “National Days of Prayer and Remembrance.”

The Afghan leader addressed an enthusiastic assembly of more than 2,500 and narrated his plans to implement sweeping changes and fresh starts in Afghanistan. 1/2002 ISCA President Dr. Karim Tourk visits Uzbekistan to Observe the Republic's Constitutional Referendum ISCA was the only American Muslim organization invited by the Uzbek government to observe the referendum.
